Image Resizer
Change image pixel dimensions or scale by percentage directly in your browser. Maintain original aspect ratios, choose standard social media presets, and process photos privately without server uploads.
How to use
Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image by dragging it into the dropzone or clicking upload.
Choose whether to resize by exact pixel dimensions or by a percentage scale.
Keep aspect ratio locked to avoid distortion, or select a standard preset size for social media.
Preview the updated dimensions and download your resized image in WebP, PNG, or JPEG format.
How in-browser image resizing works
Digital images consist of grids of pixels. Resizing an image involves recalculating pixel values using interpolation algorithms. When scaling down, adjacent pixels are averaged to retain crisp edges while significantly reducing file size. When scaling up, interpolation algorithms estimate intermediate values. Our tool uses HTML5 Canvas with high-quality bicubic smoothing enabled by default to minimize blurriness and visual artifacts.
Resizing methods
You can adjust dimensions through two distinct methods depending on your requirements:
Exact pixel dimensions: Specify explicit width and height values in pixels. When Lock aspect ratio is enabled, entering a new width automatically updates the height proportionally (and vice versa) to prevent stretching or squishing.
Percentage scaling: Scale dimensions uniformly by entering a percentage (such as 50% for half size or 25% for quarter size). This is particularly useful for quickly generating thumbnails or email attachments from high-resolution mobile photos.
Common standard dimension presets
| Preset Name | Width x Height | Common Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram Post (Square) | 1080 x 1080 px | Standard social feed graphics |
| Story / Reel / TikTok | 1080 x 1920 px | Full-screen vertical mobile formats |
| OpenGraph / Social Card | 1200 x 630 px | Website preview cards on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook |
| YouTube Thumbnail | 1280 x 720 px | Standard 16:9 video covers |
| Twitter / X Header | 1500 x 500 px | Profile banner graphics |
Privacy guarantee
Photos from personal devices and internal company graphics frequently contain private metadata, geolocation coordinates, or confidential information. Unlike web tools that upload your files to remote cloud storage, this tool processes everything client-side inside your browser sandbox. No image data is transmitted across the network.
Frequently asked questions
Will resizing an image reduce its file size?
Yes. Scaling down pixel dimensions (such as reducing a 4000x3000 photo to 1200x900) dramatically reduces the total pixel count, yielding substantial file size reductions.
Does resizing alter the image quality?
Scaling down preserves sharp details through high-quality bicubic interpolation. Scaling up can cause soft edges if stretched beyond the original resolution.
What image formats can I upload and download?
You can upload JPG, PNG, and WebP files. You can export the resized result in WebP, PNG, or JPEG formats.
Are my images uploaded to an external server?
No. All resizing, canvas rendering, and file encoding execute completely within your local web browser. Your files never leave your device.
How does aspect ratio locking work?
When aspect ratio locking is checked, the original width-to-height ratio is locked. Entering a new width automatically computes the proportionate height so your photo does not distort.
